The Cosmosquare campus in Osaka, Japan, marks a significant collaboration between CloudHQ and ESR Group. With a planned capacity of 130MW and a $2 billion investment, this project is set to bolster Osaka’s position as a critical data center hub in Asia. Construction began in 2022, following ESR’s acquisition of the site in April 2021.
Strategic Location and Design
Located in Nanko Kita, just 10km (6.2 miles) from Osaka’s central business district, the Cosmosquare campus is strategically positioned to serve growing data demands in the region. The campus comprises three buildings – OS1, OS2, and OS3 – which are being developed in three distinct phases.
Phase One: OS1
The first building, OS1, had its core and shell completed in August 2023. This facility is designed to deliver 25MW of capacity and is scheduled to be operational by June 2025.
CloudHQ’s Role in the Project
CloudHQ brings its extensive expertise to the partnership, managing a portfolio of 56 data centers globally, with a total capacity of approximately 1,100MW across the US, EMEA, and APAC regions.
Hossein Fateh, founder and CEO of CloudHQ, commented: “We are excited to partner with ESR on this groundbreaking venture in Japan.
